Photos from Toronto KISS & Makeup Book Signing

Here are a few pics of Gene in Toronto @ a book store signing. After meeting him I must say he is the most sincerest and humblest members of Kiss. Forget everything you read, he really is a nice guy. I thanked him for a lifetime of great music and for providing my life with a soundtrack. The pic of Gene & I shaking hands is a composite of a digital shot and the actual signature he gave me in his book superimposed; a nice little souvenir don't ya think. If you ever get a chance to meet Gene, go- I almost didn't and probably would have regretted it. Enjoy the pics.

Review of Melbourne, Australia 4/4/2001

I did not see Spinal Tap on their "Smell The Glove" tour. And it gutted me. But Yad Geeks . this dose of figurine hero vaudeville flattened rumours about who is imitating who. This was one awesome Rock & Roll experience meted out by an entity that knows that it is time for one last kiss goodbye.

KISS have been both immortalised and lambasted in contemporary culture. I forgive them for their US gliterazerama and laud their damned earthy rock & roll. And it is that damned earthy rock & roll in this show that stole my soul. Their show leaves the lame-arsed Stones at the MCG long ago well in its wake with a 24 song extravaganza plus 5 song medley encore. And by golly - there's so much more to them than "I Was Made" and "Rock & Roll All Nite".

Celebs in KISS Makeup January 2002

If you remember back to the 70s, Brooke Shields was pictured with Gene Simmons. I can't remember how much of a fan of the band she was. Anyway that is her KISS connection. Did she grow up or what? Here she is complete with a rose tattoo and another tattoo in a very nice area. Celebs in KISS Makeup 2002 starts off with a bang!

NASCAR in Miami- Soundtrack by KISS

Not really a question, just something I'd like to pass along to you. I write for Mike Calinoff's StockCarCity.com and run my own site, "The Car Guy of Benchfield". I did a humorous article about KISS sponsoring a Winston Cup stock car about a month back, and I'd like you all to read it. (And no, this is no kind of "slam".... I've been a KISS fan for more than 20 years.) If you're interested, you're more than welcome to post it or link to it on your site.... I'd consider it an honor, in fact. Okay, here's the link to the story on my site: http://members.tripod.com/stevejen0/nascarandkiss.htm
Thank You, Steve Wingate Webmaster, "The Car Guy of Benchfield"

KISS Freaks Note: Thanks for letting us know Steve. Great article!

KISS & Makeup Book Review

I really had low hopes for this new autobiography from Gene Simmons. We have all read the countless intereviews that seem to contradict the one the year before. Thats life in KISStory.

When I started the book I was pleasantly surprised with the first few chapters. Some very insightful information from Gene's childhood. A lot of stuff that I had never heard before. He really goes deep into his childhood and can get a better perspective of why he is the way he is. Great stuff.

As the book moved on into the teenage years on up to the creation of KISS, still very good information and behind the scenes material. Still going great. Once we move into the KISS related material I have to say I was disappointed. Not because it wasn't good, but because there just wasn't enough detail into the stories. I'm sure its hard to remember those stories as they happened so many years later, but I wanted more. The short stories seemed to pull you in then drop you off. There are some very funny and very sad stories in there involving other members of the band. Some you probably won't like, but they seem very true considering some of he rumors of the past and other KISS related books. Gene does touch on the major points in KISStory such as Peter leaving, Taking the makeup off, Vinnie Vincent, the death of Eric Carr and the reunion. Those things just didn't take up enough of the book. He leads into what the situation is then really never discussed what completely happened.

Gene's Jacket Photos

Hi There, I don't know your name but I know you run the biggest Kiss website on the net, except for maybe Kissonline.com. I'm desperately searching for a specific image of Gene that I can't find anywere, and believe me, I've looked. I recently purchased this jacket in the Kiss auction and I was told that Gene wore it during the Crazy Nights tour 87-88. I've scoured a kazillion sites looking for a picture of Gene in this thing and there's not a one to be found. Can you help me? I really appreciate anything you can do to get me closer to an image of this jacket on its original owner. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
