The Retrun of "Maul Stanley"

From Grant

That "Darth Paul" guy is back! He has a story over on a website called Metal Sludge. They run news and dirt and gossip and that kind of stuff about hair bands. Turns out he calls himself "Maul Stanley!" Hilarious! Article is pretty funny, he has his own website too. I just thought you and the Kiss fans would enjoy hearing about this. Thanks again for running my story and giving me credit for it!

Calling on the KISS ARMY for HELP!

From: Carlos Espada, KISSNation

My name is Carlos Espada, bassist for KISS tribute band, New York City's KISSNATION. Recently my Axe bass was stolen from The New Jersey area. This particular bass is unique because I built it myself, from the ground up. It looks exactly like The Gene Simmons Axe Bass, with just a couple of unique features. The blade is somewhat rounder on my bass and there is only one master volume knob, whereas the Gene Simmons Axe has two. I built the bass by hand and it has been with me for almost 4 years. I cannot begin to express how much this bass means to me, but I’m sure that fellow KISS fans and especially fellow musicians can empathize.

About the bass:
It has a bolt on neck.
It has a blank head stock with a crack on the top right side of the head.
The blade of the bass is chipped on the back end of the blade.
It has one master volume knob.
It was in a black gig bag when it was stolen.

Pictures attached with that someone within the KISS fan community might come forward with any information about my axe’s whereabouts. It is my belief that it was most likely stolen and pawned, but I believe that somehow it will work its way back into the KISS community. To anyone who has any knowledge of my bass’ whereabouts, any information would be dearly appreciated. To whoever has current possession of my bass, I will offer a reward for its return…no questions asked.

Darth "Paul" at the Star Wars Celebration in Indy

From: Grant

Last weekend some friends dragged me to the enormous Star Wars Celebration in Indianapolis. It was so huge that even George Lucas himself showed up -- something that I was told he hasn't done in almost 20 years years! There were tons of Star Wars actors and fans in costume and whatnot, but the one thing that stood out to me was this one guy walking around looking like Kiss! I'm not sure if anybody there got the reference, but it caught my attention right away because I am such a huge Kiss fan!

The guy was dressed up like the Star Wars character Darth Maul, with the long cloak and red-and-black face make-up. But in addition he also had a black star over his right eye! His costume had the traditional platform boots with chains, spandex pants, wrist studs, that kinda stuff. And he kept talking in Kiss references! Said he was writing a new album with songs like "Maul Hell's Breakin' Loose" and "Tossin' and Turnin' to the Dark Side!" He was absolutely hilarious! Again, I'm not sure how many Star Wars fans got the Kiss references, but my friends and I did and we thought he was the coolest guy at the convention.

It just goes to show you, Kiss is EVERYWHERE!

BRUCE KULICK SAYS EVERY KISS FAN WILL LOVE PAUL STANLEY'S SOLO ALBUM

From: AussyAce

Q - It's great to catch up with you, Bruce. I'm really glad to see the Union DVD is out, man. Tell me a little about that.

Bruce - The past month and a half has been really exciting. A DVD from the band I had with Corabi from 2001 was finally finished up and we got the rights to put it out. The reaction's been great. I'm selling it myself on my website, just like I did for my solo records. We only got to do a couple of club tours throughout the states. We did a little better when we went international. We couldn't get everywhere. It wasn't like a KISS tour where we got to travel everywhere. There were a lot of people that hadn't seen the band. They liked what they heard with the two discs we put out and they'll get to see us now. It's going really well and it's something I'm very pleased about. [Read The Rest]

KISS EXPO in the Cincinnati Cold?

Tia, KISSFREAKS

The 3rd annual Cincy KISS Expo was held on Sunday, April 24, in the midst of a freak cold spell that hit the area. No significant bad weather but significant Rock and Roll was served up to hundreds of devoted KISSFREAKS in Ohio.

Vendors started setting up by 6 A.M. to be ready for the line of VIPs that stormed the room at 10. Dealers were representing nothing but the best online stores as well as numerous retail collector shops. Keith Leroux - KISSASYLUM, Spencer's, KISSDUNGEON, KISSFREAKS, and so many others were peddling their wares. New and vintage, rare and bulk, it was there.

The KISS Army was met by Bill Starkey and his second in command Ted Wilson making photographs and signing autographs for the fans. Also at the Expo were authors Gordon Gebert, Bob McAdams and Wendy Moore. The Official KISS Magazine sold subscriptions to the masses throughout.

SSG filled the house with ear shattering pure rock and roll and did a set with BRUCE KULICK early in the day. Talk sessions with all the guests were cool. Some approached a little risqué but still were interesting as well as entertaining. Mr. Speed ended the show with their always hard rocking version of a KISS experience that even a die-hard-fan would love. Mr. Speed's Paul made one funny comment on stage that I thought was worth noting, "You came to rock. We are not KISS. We don't pretend to be KISS…" (Where is Eric Singer and a drum crash when you need him following a comment like that?) The Black Diamond Girls made no music but hosted the costume contest. There were more Genes in the contest there than hang in my wife's closet. The contest was entered by a couple dozen fully outfitted and made-up true KISSers. Bill France was the Gene of choice. Check him out. Allen, the host, took ill early and his lovely wife Karen took charge and pulled off yet another winning KISS event. Lots of door prizes were given to lucky VIP ticket holders. I have only attended a few expos myself, and I must say, if you are a fan, go to the expos. The Expos are in my opinion, a rush, much like you get at a real KISS concert. Don't wait for a tour to get Crazy with KISS, get a genuine KISS experience when it comes to your town. Check out KISSFREAKS for the upcoming KISS Expos and related events.

KISS EMBARK ON REAL TOUR SOON

From: AussyAce

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has posted the following message on his officiall web site:

"We have been shooting a reality television show for our good friends at A&E TV. The show follows me around the world in my comings and going and includes my two midgets, Soph and Nick, as well as the ever-beautiful and forever charming Shannon (to whom I have been happily unmarried for almost 22 years!!!).

"A&E is the same place we did our Gene Simmons bio 24/7 special last year. I'm sure they will rebroadcast the special soon, in case you missed it.

"My partner, Leslie Greif and his group, especially the powerful and attractive Adam (who actually babysits the entire project), have been working their tails off. I saw a rough of the show and it's sweet (sweet as in cool).

"We're all having a great time doing this show together. They followed me to Las Vegas, where I attended the Computer Show at the Convention Center and the AVN Awards, where I was lucky to find myself escorting the beautiful Taylor Wayne. And, they also came with me to New Orleans for the Mardi Gras — covering the madness of the city and climbing up with me on my float, which paraded throughout the city.

"No air date yet. Stay tuned.

"Early summer will also see the VH1 broadcast of my U.K. Ch. 4 series, 'Rock School', wherein I try to teach 13 year old Edwardian schooled young people how to (you guessed it) rock!!!. The first six episodes of the series will be broadcast first, followed by another 6 episodes in early fall.

"So, if you're all keeping track:
'My Dad The Rock Star' - Nickleodeon TV
'Mr. Romance' - Oxygen TV
'Rock School' - VH1
'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' - A&E

"And yes, all is well in the band I'm proud to be in. KISS is happier and more together than I've seen it in decades. We WILL do a proper tour soon. Stay tuned to KissOnline.com" and KISSFREAKS.com "for details."
