We flew in on Friday night at about 7pm in Newark, NJ.
It took Keith Leroux and I over two hours to drive to get to Atlantic
City. Once we got there we contacted Dale "The Demon" Torborg.
Dale is of course the KISS wrestler from the WCW of a few years ago.
We met him at a little party on the beach near Trump Plaza. We hung
out for about an hour then went to Trump Plaza to gamble a little.
After about fifteen minutes I was up about $400, fifteen more minutes
and my winnings were down to $100. Gambling is a lot more fun in Las
Vegas anyway. Dale found us and we headed back to the hotel.
We had a fun time hanging out with Dale. After a few
threats from Dale about us "giggling like little school girls",
we finally went to sleep for about three hours.
The next day we get to The National to work on the setup
for the day and get everything organized. After solving a few issues
we setup the merchandise table and worked on selling the new KISS
Alive 4 cd & vinyl.
Once KISS was close to being ready we setup all of the
camera equipment and everyone went over their assignments. I ended
up in charge of taking the photos which was kind of cool. Looking
at KISS through a camera lens for about two hours was pretty neat.
If this would have happened about five years ago I probably would
have been too excited to even do it. Over the last few years I have
really gotten over the whole being star struck thing, with any celebrity.
There are too many more important things in life, than the attitudes
of so called celebrities of any kind. All of the band members were
very cordial to all the fans that came from my view. The fans seem
to have really enjoyed the opportunity of a lifetime to get their
photos with the band in makeup and tell them thanks. Most fans were
very understanding of how quickly we needed to move the fans through
the photo line. I would say this was a very good group of diehard
fans.
The band seemed to be happy with each other and the
event. No visible issues.
A ton of things were autographed by the band. Every
thing from the new vinyl album, baseballs, guitars, photos and various
odd objects. I'm sure this is an opportunity of a lifetime for some
fans, me on the otherhand didn't bother getting an autograph. Not
that I didn't maybe want one, I just don't really worry about that
type of stuff.
After we closed up and grabbed our gear we headed for
dinner compliments of the promoters at TracerCode. We then headed
to the KISS Party at Trump Plaza featuring the tribute band KISS Nation.
They seemed pretty decent. For the most part the crowd was full of
some of the same people we see at the Expos across the country throughout
the year instead of a collection of celebrities. We stayed and hung
out with some friends then took off.
We finally get to our hotel near the Newark airport
at about 4am. A couple hours sleep and we were off to the airport.
I know this isn't a detailed review like the fans always want, its
just so hard to sit down and write down all the fun things that happen
at these events. I just need to start taping them and editing the
tape then make it available. So much happens in these trips I can
barely remember it all. Another quick trip that was a blast. It was
definitely a lot of fun.
