For those of you that have been visiting KISS Freaks for awhile you probably remember we teamed up with KISS Asylum to show off the KISS makeup artwork of Roch Vaillancourt. The feature started early in 1997 and continued on until around mid 1998. The idea was to take a celebrity`s photo and make them look as if they were wearing the famous greasepaint of our favorite band. It turned into a very successful feature for both sites. Roch started to become busy and was no longer able to do them. Thus leaving us a void in poking fun at other celebrities. Well I decided recently to take my stab at it and I was knocked out by how good some of these turned out. As most of you know on my personal website Digital TropicI, I do a lot of tutorials based on using Adobe Photoshop and Corel Photopaint. So I am always experimenting with graphics and design. Just teaching myself and others new things about these great programs. I thought maybe that would be something cool to give a shot. The idea is still the same. We pick a celebrity and cover their face with a KISS member`s face paint. Each month we will feature a new Celebrity in KISS Makeup. So we hope you stop by and give them a look each month. Recently Britney Spears in Las Vegas appeared on HBO. The poster ad kind of inspired me to give her the KISS makeover. No real connection to KISS, I just liked the poster. Here she gives her impression of an Elvis/Ace. Complete with Ace's Gibson with a little blue treatment. |

Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny of the X-Files
are the new Celebs in KISS Makeup for May 2001. They deal with aliens
on their show. Not sure how that relates to KISS, except Ace is
always talking about he is from the planet Jendell. I gues there
is our connnection. Nice lick there by Gillian Anderson, don't ya
think?!

James Gandolfini the actor from The Sopranos is
our featured celebrity for the month of April 2001. What a great
show! There really isn't much of a KISS connection with him that
I know of, but he runs a mafia crime family in the Sopranos series.
And the music companies are kind of ran like the mafia, so I guess
that is connection enough.

There is really no KISS connection I know of with
Cindy Margolis. I just love to watch her prance around on her show.
She was once known as the most downloaded woman on the Internet.
Well there are tons of KISS sites on the Internet. Ok, so there
is the connection! So lets throw in a little Hot In the Shade background
and some Vinnie makeup. Rock on Cindy! Yeah I know I spelled it

In mourning of the information released on Peter
Criss leaving KISS, I thought it only appropriate to feature a celebrity
in his famous greasepaint. Nicole Kidman starred in one of the Batman
movies. There was a catwoman in those movies. Thats connection enough
for me. Plus the black dress seems fitting, since KISS fans are
now in mourning for the loss of the Catman in the Farewell Tour
lineup. This one is for you Peter. We miss you already.

January 2001 Charlies Angels w/Special Guest!

Recently the Charlies Angels television series from
the seventies, was turned into a modern day movie. The original
Charlies Angels began in the seventies. So did KISS! Thats enough
reason for me, to feature them as our Celebs for January 2001. Take
a look at the KISS Freaks special guest. Thats your favorite KISS
Freak, me. Why should the Celebs have all of the fun? Thats me appearing
in makeup for the first time ever bald head and all.

Jennifer Love Hewitt looks pretty X-masy in this
little shot. So I figured what the heck. What better celeb than
Jennifer, to get us in the Christmas mood. Although a little young
to be a longtime KISS fan, she played in the movie Can`t Hardly
Wait. If you remember in the opening scene the nerds planning to
destroy a classmate, are using KISS action figures to lay out their
plan. Thats connection enough don`t ya think. I had to stretch for
that one. :) Rock on you little cat, Jennifer.

Hey there, Funny thing, i was messing around in photoshop the other night and thought to myself, you know what would be funny?, doing kiss makeup on celebrities!, so i started doing one, then realized i forgot how the makeup looks lol, so i went looking to see if i could find some good closeups of each member from the front, then low and behold i found your site and discovered i'm not the first person to think of doing kiss makeup on photos lol. I pretty much did things exactly how you did you in tutorial before even seeing it lol. Anyway here's a few of mine if you want to post them, the Charlize/Ace one is pretty weak, i definetely need to do more work on the Ace makeup. I found a quick way to do them, what i did was make a single layer .psd template for each members makeup with the eyes solid, then i just add that as a layer over my celebs photo (after making a white-face/greyscale layer) and set the opacity to around 60% in order to see through it while i erase out the eye holes, and use the freeform and distort tools to stretch it to fit how i want then when it's all done, merge the layers and save it. Works like a charm :) Anyway here's the first few i did, i made them as before and after pics. Later! SumGuy99 |
